Name changes are nothing new in the music industry, especially in the world of Hip Hop. Since the beginning artists have dropped names, changed names, added symbols and more. A name change can be representative of artist growth, societal impact or introducing a new wave. Young Thug is the latest to upgrade his moniker. The artist announced via Twitter for that he will now be called “Sex”.

The late night Twitter revelations are not the first time fans believed the Atlanta rapper wanted to change his name. Back in 2016, Young Thug released No, My Name Is JEFFERY and some inferred the artist now wanted to be recognized by Jeffrey. The mixtape was released under the name Young Thug.

This name change could mean new music is on the way from Thugger, who has not released a full length project since his collaboration with Future Super Slimey which released in 2017.
