The streaming wars are back and the latest report coming from the Wall Street Journal is an intriguing one to say the least.

According to the business publication, Apple Music is reportedly growing twice as fast as Spotify when it comes to their U.S. subscribers, and is on pace to pass the Swedish streaming service by the summer. Apple Music is growing at an estimated 5% rate, compared to Spotify’s 2%.

Reps from both Apple Music and Spotify declined to comment on this specific report, however Apple Music revealed they now have 36 million subscribers globally, up from their 30 million reported in September. Interesting to say the least.

It’s also worth noting that Apple Music is currently up and running in 115 different countries compared to Spotify’s 61. Thanks to Apple’s chokehold on the tech industry globally speaking, it makes perfect sense why Apple Music is able to expand that much more than Spotify.

Spotify also made an interesting move on the creative side last week when they announced that they will now be showing producer and songwriter credits on their platform. This was something that TIDAL’s been doing for a long time now, with Apple yet to follow suit. Last request, can all producers/songwriters get their credit and get paid?
