Trae Tha Truth’s 2017 was turned on its head with the devastating Hurricane Harvey disaster that struck the city of Houston. The latter part of Trae’s year was dedicated to leading relief efforts to help get his city back in one piece, which is nothing new for Trae – he’s been giving back his entire career.

Today, we’re excited to exclusively premiere a brand new video for Trae for his catchy record “FrFr” featuring ad-libs from Lil Durk. As far as where the song’s inspiration came from, Trae says “for real for real” is everyday slang in his neighborhood, and where he comes from is most important.

“‘For real, for real’ is everyday slang in the hood,” Trae tells us via e-mail. “It’s a term that we use and a term that we understand. It’s every day life. I am what I say I am. I’m a solid one and I’m prepared to go the long way in any situation.”

The visual itself is rather simple, however seeing Trae cruise around the city of Houston (and see it in a positive light) is heartwarming to say the least. In fact, Trae’s connection with the city of Houston got even stronger last year during his 10th annual Trae Day when he was given the key to the city.

“It means a lot; it’s a very big accomplishment for me,” Trae says. “But it also means I have more responsibility when it comes to holding down the city. I feel like I have to live up to having that key, for being that chosen one.”

We have no doubt you will, Trae.

With a new year in front of us, Trae Tha Truth is ready to strike again with the music. It all starts with the “FrFr” video, which you can watch below.
