Oh, what a year 2017 was. Last January it was impossible to predict the roller coaster ride we were about to engage in over the past 12 months. We saw new stars emerge and take control of the game and some veterans show that they still have their stamp on the culture. Hip-hop was dominant with the heavy hitters like Jay Z, Drake and Kendrick Lamar leading the way and rookies like J.I.D. showing they belong. And R&B, continuing its resurgence, was just as special as it has ever been as dazzling vocalists released quality projects that would have us flocking to check for tour dates so we can hear their amazing voices in person.

While there was plenty of projects to wrap our ears around, there were some that stood out above others and created a dominant impact. Examining charts, social media influence, effect on the artists’ careers and more, the KarenCivil.com team presents the 17 most impactful albums of 2017.
