Turns out, the rumors were true!

Back in February, Director Jon Favreau took to Twitter to announce two essential puzzle pieces for his new Lion King remake, first naming Glover to play the role of Simba and James Earl Jones to play the role of Mufasa as he did in the 1994 film. Now, Disney has announced the movie’s remaining cast members, confirming the rumor that Beyoncé will be playing the role of Nala.

According to Variety, Beyonce confirmed the role on her Facebook account in a post that contained the rest of the voice cast, which also revealed that Keegan-Michael Key will be playing a hyena named Kamari. The live-action film will also star Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Simba’s mother Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric André as Azizi, and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.

Favraeau, who also directed “The Jungle Book,” plans to make use of the iconic songs from the original classic, like “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.” “It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,” he said in a statement.

The film will arrive in theaters summer of 2019. Who else is already counting down the days?
