Chance The Rapper has proven himself time and time again to be the type of rapper we want our younger generations looking up to. Yesterday during the Emmys, the Chicago native teamed up with special guests and the night’s host, Steven Colbert, to open the 69th annual show.

Other familiar faces that showed up in the bit include nominees Anthony Anderson (from black-ish), Allison Janney (Mom) and Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things”) among others. From Black Lives matter to LGBTQ rights, Chano used his airtime to shed light on an important message: unity.

“I love television, it’s a pleasant distraction/But just imagine taking action/I like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in fact I’m addicted/But where’s the cop show where one gets convicted?” he rapped, remembering those who lost their lives as a result of police brutality.
