JAY-Z - 4:44

There have been plenty of moments that have made the hip-hop community talk this year. None of them are matching up to what JAY-Z has done over the past month. The promotion for the release of his new album, 4:44, started with mysterious billboards in Time Square, which spread across the country, led to commercials featuring the who’s who of African-American thespians serving as a curveball to what the actual release was before we heard the snippet of “Adnis” in a follow-up ad. Yes, indeed it was the 13th solo album from JAY-Z.

Over the course of weeks, we received solo vignettes from Mahersala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o and others, the billboards revealed Hov’s name and TIDAL, Sprint and ROC NATION stood out front to confirm beliefs, but until this very moment not may outside the Carter and ROC circle could tell you anything about the project. That all has finally come to an end.

Releasing today (June 30), 4:44 is ten tracks deep, three features in Damian Marley, Frank Ocean and Gloria Carter. Get yourself out of confusion and ambiguity and into hip-hop. Stream JAY-Z’s new album below.
