Nicki Minaj at NBA Awards

Hip-hop and NBA have a storied relationship over the years and that relationship continued with the Inaugural NBA Awards, which were hosted by OVO leader Drake and featured a performance from the Young Money hip-hop queen Nicki Minaj.

Opening the show, Drake, who was sharp in a white tuxedo jacket, delivered a monologue poking fun at present NBA Stars, upcoming players and their overzealous fathers. The humor from Drizzy was praised by the Inside the NBA television crew who joked back questioning had he actually wrote his jokes, alluding to those old ghostwriting rumors.

Bringing along a special guest in former college basketball player 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj took the stage for the evening’s lone performance. Minaj’s performance kicked off with the duo performing the Pretty Girls Like Trap Music collaboration “Realize,” before she headed into “No Frauds” and “Swish Swish.”

The season-ending ceremony awarded the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook as NBA MVP, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors as Defensive Player of the Year and Houston Rockets Coach Mike D’Antoni as Coach of the Year.Be sure to check out the performance delivered from both below.
