Today, Chance the Rapper took to Twitter to announce that Apple Music paid him an outstanding amount $500,000 to put his album “Coloring Book” on the streaming service for a two-week exclusive period.

Chance said within the string of tweets, “I feel like if I didnt clear it up people would keep trying to discredit all the work we did to make Coloring Book what it became.”

The Grammy-Award winning rapper took home this awards this past Grammy’s ceremony, and was the first artist to win such an award for a streaming only album. He also became the first Grammy winner who was not represented by a record label at all.

“I wanna clear things up. @apple gave me half a mil and a commercial to post ‘Coloring Book’ exclusively on applemusic for 2 weeks. That was the extent of my deal, after 2 weeks it was on SoundCloud for free. I needed the money and they’re all good people over there. I never felt the need to correct folks on my relationship with @apple but now that more people have tried to discredit my independence,” Chance says on Twitter.
