In the latest episode of Genius’s IRL (In Real Life) series we went shopping at Luxe Lingerie in Beverly Hills with the beautiful Jhene Aiko.

During their conversation, Genius’ Rob Markman and Jhene broke down her new single “Maniac” and talked about the sexual freedom that Jhené finds in her music.

“When my friend heard ‘Maniac,’ she was like, ‘Oh my God! This reminds me of how you were in elementary school,’” Jhené tells Genius. “In second or third grade, we had these nicknames—my best friend was ‘Freaky Deaky’ and mine was ‘Freaky Deaky Junior.’ We just were out of control when it came the stuff we would talk about. My older siblings were always teaching me about stuff that I shouldn’t have known about.”

In the interview, Jhené takes Genius through her journey, detailing her evolution from a teenage B2K affiliate to a bold superstar. “I would say where I found true confidence and freedom was this year, really,” she says. Jhene also breaks down her recent collaborations with Big Sean, and reveals the explicit lyric that he helped her write on “Maniac.”
