If there’s one thing that gets most of us through the day, it’s music. Whether we’re scrolling through Soundcloud looking for mood tunes, or listening to a mixtape someone sent our way, not a day goes by without some kind of music playing in our ears.

This past year, amidst the many crises, disappointments and acts of violence, the role of music as everyday therapy was particularly necessary. While some folks had the “worst year ever,” 2016 was nothing less than outstanding in music. We saw artists such as The Weeknd, Frank Ocean and Drake all break historic records.

With 2017 here, there is a crop of rising talent that wants you to keep your eyes set on their music moving forward. There’s plenty of up and coming acts making some huge waves and we can’t wait to see what this year has in store for them.

With that being said, we’ve decided to highlight 20 artists who we think will have a major breakthrough year in 2017.
