This year, we’ve seen the resurgence of Nick Cannon’s music career. In addition to multiple freestyles, freebies, and of course his new mixtape The Gospel of Ike Turn Up: My Side of The Story.

Today, the superstar entertainer sheds his funny man persona on his new freestyle verse for J. Cole’s popular track “Everybody Gotta Die.” Putting his own spin on J. Cole’s widely popular song ‘Everybody Dies’ Nick talks about his struggle with Lupus and how he fears his time is running out. Nick raps:

“One day everybody gotta die / But the Lupus got it flying by /
My doctors say I’m running outta time / Mind on my money, money on my mind”

Continuing to get personal on this freestyle, Nick also admits:

“Can’t get married again, never going to try / Just keep my daughter close by / Teach her what a man is while I’m still here / Show her what the plan is, this our year /
Baby I apologize but my spirit in the air / Your father never disappear”

Taking a break from his acting and hosting endeavors, Nick is getting back to his musical roots and pursuing his passion of being an emcee. Expect this to continue for 2017.
