Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar & Selena Gomez To Headline Global Citizen Festival
by Site Manager
Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and Selena Gomez are just some of the headliners for the 5th annual Global Citizen Festival, coming to Central Park on September 24th.
The festival, which aims to encourage activism and put pressure on leaders to combat poverty will also feature Major Lazer, Usher, Ellie Goulding, and many more.
The festival’s organizers are focused on aiding the United Nations’ global goals with a 15-year plan to end extreme poverty. They recently just also partnered with Gucci’s Chime for Change campaign, which promotes gender equality.
Hugh Evans, chief executive of Global Citizen says, “If we don’t ultimately empower girls, making sure they have access to quality education, or tackle discriminatory laws like forced marriage or honor killings, we’re never going to end extreme poverty.”
