Music icon Mariah Carey covers the August and September issue of Complex magazine, which hits shelves today, July 26th.

Smoldering in a red corset and fishnets, and gearing up for the Fall release of her E! docuseries, Mariah’s World, the diva talks about her career, family love, and much more.

The “Don’t Forget About Us” singer dishes about her kids and marriage to Nick Cannon by saying, “I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced. Like, ‘Oh, great job. Repeat your past.’ But life happens. And it was supposed to happen. It’s fine. For them, I wish it hadn’t happened that way. For me, it was… [singing Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams’ “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late”] Guess it’s over. Call it a day.”

The 47-year-old even goes into details about how things changed when she was signed with Universal Records. “Universal was cool when L.A. (Reid) was there, but once he was gone I was like, ‘I gotta FOH. I literally have to get the FOH.’ I was like, ‘Let me figure it out.’ So I delivered an album [2014’s Me. I Am Mariah…the Elusive Chanteuse, her last contractual obligation] that I didn’t want to give to Universal because I put so much heart and soul into it. It was my last album. You never give the label your last album. It’s just a golden rule, you just don’t do it.”
