I agree. You make songs like “Lost N**gas” but then also “Caravan 04” so I think the wide range is what fools people. As comfortable as you are with different sounds, what do you feel is your strongest attribute as a rapper?

SL: My cadence and flow allows me to adapt to anything, that’s my strongest attribute. I can be a chameleon on anything I touch. I’ve also been very meticulous about making sure I don’t pigeon-hole my artistry to a specific sound or topic. This allows me to do anything as long as it’s authentic.

It’s definitely difficult to define your sound, which is a huge compliment in today’s industry. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?

SL: Probably to take advice but always listen to your own advice over everything. Take everything with a grain of salt.

You’ve been talking about a tour and even announced your debut album title At What Cost not too long ago. Tell us what’s next for you.

SL: Honestly, just consistency. I’ve found the perfect groove for myself and I don’t plan on going away any time soon. Summer tour, more music, may do an EP this fall, prepping my debut album for next year. We’re building WiseUp & Co as well, which is going to be exciting. So a lot on the horizon.

Is WiseUp & Co a label venture?

SL: WiseUp in itself is an idea which we’re working to emphasise and promote to the world inside and outside of Hip-Hop. WiseUp & Co will act as a label venture that specializes in artist development and management as well as a media platform for created and curated content.

That sounds great, best of luck with it. We’re grateful for your time!

SL: Thank you guys for having me, sincerely.
