SoundCloud has just made a huge deal with Universal Music Group that will allow the major label powerhouse to monitor and monetize their laundry list of music being spun on the streaming service. SoundCloud already has similar deals with over 20,000 independent labels, as well as Warner Music Group, leaving Sony/ATV as the only major with no deal.

With this new deal in place, SoundCloud is now that much closer to having a subscription tier for the streaming service, according to Billboard, who received exclusive quotes from SC’s Chief Content Officer Stephen Bryan. Talk about a major deal.
