As most of us know, Drake took his newest hit “Hotline Bling” up a notch last night when he premiered the very catchy and well-perceived new video for the summer hit. And as most of us also know, “Hotline Bling” came almost immediately after buzzing newcomer D.R.A.M. dropped the original version known as “Cha Cha,” which also hit hard this summer.

While “Hotline Bling” is almost an entirely different song based on flow and lyrics from “Cha Cha,” the comparisons are clear and the similarities are evident. D.R.A.M. went from newcomer to soon-to-be star, but the winner of the two is clear — Drake.

Last night after performing in Toronto for the first time, D.R.A.M. reflected on that milestone, and finally let his true feelings on “Cha Cha” and “Hotline Bling” be heard.

In a series of tweets, D.R.A.M. said, “Just performed in Toronto for the 1st time tonight and it was bittersweet. Sweet cus I’m out here sharing my music, my sound with the people..Bitter though, cus after my performance all I’m seeing is Cha Cha/Hotline Bling comparisons on my timeline.”

He goes on to say, “Yeah, I feel I got jacked for my record…But I’m GOOD.” With his new EP GAHDAMN! dropping this Friday (10/23), the Virginia hitmaker is looking to close out his alerady successful 2015 in a major way.
