With the anticipation of the upcoming Creed film, fans are at the edges of their seats to see some of the action-packed scenes that they’ve been getting previews of for months. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, as well as Tessa Thompson. Earlier today, we were able to briefly chat with Michael and Tessa, who show some undeniable chemistry with their building friendship even off-screen. As the two, along with director Ryan Coogler, stopped by the 2015 Revolt Music Conference to speak on the upcoming movie, they shared their thoughts on their characters. Both Michael and Tessa shared some of the similarities that they see from their characters within themselves.

“I mean honestly I think it’s a journey of not knowing what the future holds and being passionate about something, and trying to find ways to get it. It’s about how to achieve your dreams and how to achieve your goals. There is no right way, so I think it’s a balance. There’s running into obstacles and figuring out ways to get around them. How do you get to that next level and step into your own growth? That’s the same way I live my life as well. I’m a career person and a professional, so I think that’s what I take away with my character,” said Michael of his role, who portrays the feature film’s main character, Adonis Johnson Creed.

“Both Adonis and Bianca are characters that are really striving for something, and dreaming really big. They don’t necessarily have someone around them that tells them that they can do what it is that they aspire to. I think that that’s something that I can understand. I think I just loved this love story of two young people who are striving for something individually, and how that sort of strengthens their relationship and their bond, but also challenges it. For us and what we do, it can be a tricky thing. That was something I was interested in talking about,” shares Tessa of her role as Adonis’ love interest, Bianca.
