Apple Stops TIDAL From Streaming Drake’s Performance At ‘Lil Weezyana Fest’
by Site Manager
It’s a big weekend for music all around the country, as several music festivals are taking place. One of them being the highly anticipated Lil Weezyana Fest hosted by Lil Wayne, which was certainly a night to remember.
We previously reported that TIDAL would be exclusively streaming the festival, but for those who tuned in you might of have been blocked from watching the final guest of the night, Drizzy Drake. Apple Music, Drake’s newest home, stepped in right before the “Energy” rapper was going to take the stage.
According to reports, Apple was not happy when the Toronto native was set to appear on stage, so the streaming company threatened to sue their competitor TIDAL for a whopping $20 million. If you remember, Drake, recently signed an exclusive deal with Apple Music, making it obvious why they’d have a problem with TIDAL getting free promo from Drake. As a result, TIDAL was forced to comply and took to their Twitter account to address the issue last night (August 28).
1/2 Apple is interfering with artistry and will not allow this artist to stream. Sorry for Big Brother’s inconvenience.
