Two of the entertainment world’s most powerful celebrities are coming together for a great cause. Will Smith and Jay Z are set to produce a miniseries on the story of Emmett Till.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the talented duo will co-produce a miniseries on HBO in support of the civil rights icon. Till was abducted in the middle of the night and then beaten, tortured and shot in the head roughly 60 years ago. The gruesome and hate-filled crime helped spark the civil rights movement after his family allowed the gut-wrenching photos to be released to the public. Till’s killers were acquitted by an all-white jury, making this one of the most important stories of the civil rights movement.

Will Smith and Jay Z are a perfect fit to produce this miniseries on this tragic incident, and while the project is still untitled, we expect it to be a masterpiece.
