Whoever said hip hop artists don’t care about the community must not have met J. Cole.

When J. read a letter from a fan written to him in 2013, it led to him meeting high school senior Cierra Bosarge. Her story inspired him so much he had an idea to get her to excel in school. The rapper promised the young lady on Twitter if she got accepted into a 4 year university, he would go to her high school graduation.

“I read your letter twice now. You are so strong. I admire YOU. I will be at your graduation…Only IF you get into a 4 year University. Go!”

Now, we hear a lot of stories about J. Cole being faithful to his fans, but who would have known he would go this far?
Once the grades were out and acceptance letters were mailed, Cierra made sure to spread the news to J. Next thing you know, he routed his Dollar And A Dream tour to sit right there with the rest of the families to support the new graduates. He also went bearing gifts of inspirational books. But that wasn’t enough for J. Cole. Cierra tweeted that he even agreed to help pay for her tuition!

The fresh graduate couldn’t wait to post her pictures with the rapper quoting his verse, “You gotta dream like you never seen obstacles.”

It’s truly an incredible story. Not a lot of artists get recognition for the good that they do, or they just don’t boast about it, but this was very admirable, J.

Congratulations, Cierra and the rest of the 2015 graduates. Breanna Davis
