You have the privilege of working under some industry heavyweights. What’s it like to have them in your corner?

J. Drew: Being able to bounce my ideas off of legends like Pharrell, Warryn Campbell and Rodney Jerkins can’t do anything but help. They really “get it.” I’m blessed to be able to call those guys mentors.

Are their any key lessons you learned early on from them? Any lessons learned on your own?

J. Drew: Just to really take what I do serious and strive to be great.

You’re signed to Live TMG as an artist and StarTrak as a producer, how different are the experiences for you?

J. Drew: They’re different and similar in ways. Pharrell took notice to my vibe musically and creatively as a producer very early on. Live saw I had potential and what it takes to be successful as an artist and allowed me to still be creative. The processes have been very different but I’ve learned a lot from both.

You are one of the Rising Artists on TIDAL, what does that mean to you and how is the experience?

J. Drew: They’ve showed a lot of support and I appreciate it! I love the fact that Jay is extending the platform to new artists like myself. I’ll be doing more with TIDAL really soon.

You recently worked with Elijah Blake for “All I Need Is You,” what artists would you love to work with next?

J. Drew: Definitely Jay Z, Kanye West and Beyonce. And of course Stevie! I was working out of Rodney’s studio not too long ago and Kanye walked in the session. Being in the same room as him was inspiration in itself.

What’s coming next from you after The Long Way Home?

J. Drew:More music. I kept this project short because I just wanted to give my fans an idea of where I’m headed musically. More music is coming.
