J. Cole is currently doing something really special for his die hard fans. For the 3rd time, Cole is on his Dollar & A Dream tour, where Cole will play select records from his early mixtapes including Friday Night Lights, The Warm Up, etc. It gets better — Cole is only charging $1 to get access to the show and on the morning of each show, he announces the location and the time he’ll be playing, so only the truest fans can make it. Epic marketing, to say the least.

Last evening (June 22), Cole was at the Irving Plaza in NYC for the aforementioned tour and throughout the set, spoke on several different things about his career and how he got to where he’s at. A special moment during the show came when Cole disclosed why he released the Friday Night Lights mixtape in 2010. Interesting to say the least.

The KarenCivil.com team was in attendance last night and was able to get some exclusive footage from Cole’s show, including the explanation of why the Friday Night Lights mixtape came about.

Reminisce with us above.
