Alessia Cara’s name is gaining more and more pull in the music game, and she’s accomplishing so much more than the average 18-year-old.

The Canadian native stopped by Hot 97’s Ladies First to discuss a slew of topics, as well as performing an acoustic version of her hit track “Here,” which is blowing up the charts.

Not only did she talk about her smash single, she also talked about being an awkward teenage girl, some of the pressures she goes through, and much more.

“We have all this pressure to, you know, look a certain way, and act a certain way, and do this, and be classy at the same time. It’s just so many things that are expected of us, that it’s really overwhelming at times,” she says of the pressures of being a female at her age. She continued, “I’m not really that social. I mean I am, but when it’s people I don’t know, I just get uncomfortable.”

Alessia says she hopes that she can shed light on people who are little more introverted like that through her music. She even mentioned that she has obsession with Drake.

Speaking on Drizzy’s influence in Canada and on her, “I know a lot of people that, like, worship Drake. I don’t know. Not a lot of people spoke for Toronto before him. No one really repped Toronto that much. I think when you have someone like that, who’s sold that many albums, it’s like, ‘Yeah!’ I love him. Aside from that, he’s just amazing, I think.”
