Jhene Aiko has put a whole new meaning on the phrase “grocery shopping.” If you have been under a rock, Jhene Aiko joined Omarion on his single ‘Post To Be,” easily one of the hottest singles in the country right now, and dropped the lyric “I may let your boy chauffeur me but he gotta eat the booty like groceries.” Whether that is your pastime or not, the song and the line is enjoyable.

To examine the creation of the line and what she actually shops for, like meat and produce, at the grocery store, Rob Markman of MTV News met the talented singer at Manhattan’s Westside Market.

While strolling through the aisles Jhene Aiko details that she worked with a partner on the lyric, in which groceries happened to rhyme with “Post to Be.”

“Whatever we say I want to make sure we say something about ‘eat the booty’” Jhene shared. “It was a fun song and I wanted my part to be funny and unexpected and ironically groceries rhymes with ‘Post to Be’ and so it works.”

Continuing on, Jhene named some of the items she picks up in the market like bananas, watermelon, yams and items that are essential for her daughter like pizza and hot dogs.

Jhene Aiko also let it be known that you don’t necessarily have to do the deed; with her it’s still optional. In addition, you get insight into what the singer is getting into this summer such as a campaign with Pepsi to give fans an exclusive experience with artists.

Check out the video above and make sure you stock up on your groceries of choice this weekend.
