With just a few episodes to go before his long reign in the Late Show hosting seat is retired, David Letterman has a lot of reflecting to do.

As fans are gearing up to say goodbye to the long-running late night host, GQ Magazine recently gathered some of the top 10 moments from his duties on television.

They even got some quotes from some of his most famous and memorable guests, with highlights coming from Jimmy Kimmel and Will Ferrell.

As Kimmel was coming into his position in the 80’s, Letterman stopped by the GE building to drop off a gift basket for him to welcome him to the NBC lineup.

Jimmy says or the ordeal, “In the ’80s, GE bought NBC. Dave brought a fruit basket to the GE Building, and security announced that he needed to leave, but he barged through anyway. A foul security guy grabbed his mike and put his hand over the camera. It was a violent ejection from the building. And Dave was so perfectly calm through the whole thing. It says a lot about him. He has a calm approach to insanity. Plus, it was the beginning of his contentious relationships with the companies he worked for.”

Will also had a great moment with the host, stating to GQ,  ”I came out to do a segment, and I handed him $20, and he just shows the $20 to the audience. I go, ‘Dave, I’m sorry, but I never know if you’re supposed to tip or not in New York.’ He just kind of laughed. But then he mailed it back to me the next week with a letter. ‘You can have it back,’ he said. I just love that he wrote a letter and mailed me back the $20.”
