Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ Goes Gold In Three Weeks
by Staff Editor
In a day where album sales are far and few in between hip-hop’s biggest stars are doing the unthinkable. Following Big Sean, Drake, and J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly is doing numbers in album sales. The rapper’s sophomore album pushed 52,366 units (63,251 including streams) in only the third week of being on the shelves.
Lamar, who recently announced his commitment and engagement to long-time high school sweetheart Whitney Alford, has been riding the high waves of hip-hop music excellence by appearing on numerous radio shows, magazine covers, TV shows, and snagging big-name brand campaigns.
However, the glitz didn’t stop the rapper from paying homage to the city of Compton in his most recent video for King Kunta.
There seems to be nothing but great thing in the air for Kendrick Lamar and the whole TDE collective. What was your favorite TPAB track? Does the album’s success surprise you?
