GoFundMe has become the new get rich tactic used to raise funds for events, rising brands and even travel. Following the trend, a GoFundMe page dedicated to Michael T. Slager – the South Carolina police officer charged with the murder of 50-year-old Walter L. Scott – was removed from the site Wednesday (April 8).

According to reports, Kelsea Little – GoFundMe’s public relations manager – said the page was taken down due to “violations of the page’s terms and conditions.”

Video footage showed officer Slager, 33, shooting Scott eight times in the back as Scott attempted to flea the scene. Much like the disturbing footage of Mike Brown’s shooting in Ferguson, Mo. the video caused outrage across social media.
