Killer Mike has consistently been argued as one of the top underrated rappers in hip-hop, but thanks to Kendrick Lamar, he’s gotten one of the best co-signs ever.

The veteran MC got a major shout out from Kendrick Lamar on his popular track “Hood Politics” off of his new album To Pimp A Butterfly, and now he’s sharing his thoughts on it.

The original lyric from K. Dot said, “Critics wanna mention that they miss when Hip Hop was rappin’/ Motherf–ker if you did then Killer Mike would be platinum.”

During an interview with MTV, Mike told them, “I felt like when a professional ball player compliments another professional ball player,” Mike says. “That is a compliment no one can truly understand how dope that is, unless you’re a ball player. For me, it was an honor.”

He also remarked on how he shares the same love for Kendrick’s music, stating, “I didn’t know he listened to me,” Mike says, surprised. “I suspected maybe he did. I’m glad it was confirmed in such a huge way. I just want to thank him. I just like what they’re doing. I just like him.”
