As far as producers go, Velous is on top of his game. Already making waves within Coke Boy Records, the New York native has thrusted to the forefront with his latest contribution on Kanye West’s “All Day.”

His latest contribution, which he attributes to a moment of zoning out to an episode of Saturday Night Live, the young producer was merely fooling around on his keyboard when the original beat was created.

“I can remember that being on the screen and I was just watching it with my headphones on and my keyboard on my lap,” he explained while on the road to Philadelphia. “I usually make beats in the studio and have access to all the equipment but I just wanted to be kind’ve lazy that day.”

Steadily climbing the ladder of success, Velous still implements his recently deceased father’s teachings while maintaining his personal individuality. “He really did influence me a lot even though I still went out and did my own thing,” he said. “He was very influential, that was my best friend. He’s the reason why I’m doing music now. He taught me how to be a renaissance man.”

The multi-talented musician may be commanding the boards but he is also setting aside time to work on his own debut project titled The Disco.

“I love making my own songs. The thing about production is that you can start a song from scratch, something that doesn’t exist,” he explained. “You press one note on your keyboard and then you take notes in building – like a sonic building brick by brick.”

Whether he intends to follow the trend of surprise or make an announcement is still up in the air as the producer simply does what he wants. – Alley Olivier
