Rihanna’s ‘Home’ Scores Big at the Box Office This Weekend

DreamWorks film Home which features voiceovers from Rihanna, opened at No.1 at the box office. The 3D animation brought in $54 million in the U.S. and $48.2 million oversees, totaling in $102.2 million worldwide. This is the best opening for a DreamWorks Animation film since summer 2012’s release, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.
Home also stars Steve Martin, Jim Parsons and Jennifer Lopez and tells the story of Gratuity “Tip” Tucci (Rihanna), a teenage girl who befriends an outcasted alien (Jim Parsons). Get Hard, a comedy starring Kevin Heart and Will Ferrell, was also released this weekend. Get Hard followed behind Home with a box office debut of $34.6 million.
