White sneakers have always played their part in fashion. But what makes them such a big deal? Jerry Seinfeld and Wale discuss what white shoes mean to them in episode 2 of the “Wale and Seinfeld” series. Jerry Seinfeld explained it best when he said, “Well when I was growing up, everyone grew up wearing black shoes. There was no light colors in shoes. And then, Cosby wore white sneakers on I Spy, and then Joe Namath wore white shoes in the ’69 Jets. And it was like, it’s okay to wear white shoes, and it just stood out. It’s well…fun! It’s like when you play sports in black shoes, it’s like it’s too serious.”
