Back on January 18, A$AP Yams passed away in his sleep, and there was immediate speculation, stemming from his last tweet posted, that his death may have been drug-related. Fellow A$AP Mob members A$AP Ant and A$AP Rocky released statements denying rumors that Yams’ death had been caused by drug use or overdose. On the morning of his death, Ant stated, ““People keep talking saying he overdosed on Xanax and s*** like that. No, that’s not what happened at all. It wasn’t that at all.”

Earlier today, the New York Times’ Jon Caramanica tweeted that the Chief Medical Examiner’s report concluded that the 26-year-old Harlem native, born Steven Rodriguez, died due to acute mixed drug intoxication. The report revealed that opiates and benzodiazepine were found in Yams’ system, and his death has been ruled accidental. The use of opiates and benzodiazepines in the USA is on the increase, with many medical patients ending up addicted to various opiate-based drugs, and therefore attending rehab centers similar to Ascension House Sober Living in order to combat their accidental addiction, more often than not these addictions stem from patients being prescribed opiate-based painkillers without proper usage instruction.

We will keep everyone updated if there are any more details. Rest in power A$AP Yams.
