Trinidad James on CNN

Monday evening Trinidad James joined Don Lemon on a virtual panel on CNN where the use of the n-word was debated in everyday use and in music such as tracks from the “All Gold Everything” emcee himself.

The conversation began as a one on one conversation with Lemon who alerts James about the criticism of the public who will take a headline out of context with it being used against them.

Speaking on the jurisdiction of the word between various cultures, the conversation set an arena for the battle of words and opinion between James and conservative guest Ben Ferguson. Ferguson tossed out beliefs of revenue in hip-hop reliant to the use of the word, which was denied by Trinidad and another guest Marc Lamont Hill.

“That definitely has nothing to do with it,” Trinidad addressed Ferguson. “We use the word because that’s how we came up. People came up using the word in the wrong way, we came up using the word as ‘how you doing, my nigga?’ When somebody says ‘my nigga’ that means that bro, you’re my friend. I will call you Ben my nigga.”

Trinidad James goes on to state that his creativity is what sells music not the n-word only to have Ben respond with the word as the only reason for Trinidad being on TV during the broadcast.
