This past Thursday, President Barack Obama took the time to set the record straight about his relationship with Kanye West.

“I’ve met Kanye twice,” said President Obama. “The first time when I was a senator. He was with his mom. He had just gotten big. He’s from Chicago, so they wanted to meet. He was very soft-spoken, very gracious. He was a young guy. He hadn’t quite… come into his own.”

“About six months ago, he came to an event,” he said of their second time meeting. “Look, I love his music. He’s incredibly creative. I don’t think I’ve got his home number.”

Well, Kanye appears to have a different recollection of things between him and the commander in chief. TMZ caught up to him outside of LAX and states that President Obama, in fact, does have his number and has called him at home.

We’re not sure who to believe here, but do keep in mind that the president has been recorded calling Kanye a “jackass” in the past.
