An educational non-profit organization, Get Schooled brought out ScHoolboy Q to Baltimore, Maryland, for a Celebrity Principal celebration.

Maritime High School won Get Schooled’s National Attendance Challenge by raising its attendance 10%, and was rewarded with the TDE rapper as Principal For A Day. He flew out from South Africa, and came through to interact with the student body, and play one on one basketball games.

The day’s festivities were hosted by on-air talent Johnny Doswell, AKA Porkchop, from Q92 and featured a Q&A session with the ScHoolboy, where he reportedly focused on life principals, such as believing in yourself, teamwork and pushing on the importance of working hard to become great. “Keep working don’t listen to nobody if you believe in yourself, believe in yourself. If plan A don’t work, work on another plan A,” he said. ScHoolboy touched on hip-hop and aspiring artists, “I see a lot more creativity. It’s a lot more rappers so a lot of good stuff gets overlooked. The bar keeps being pushed higher and higher.” Q then shouted out his boys Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and the TDE crew, who are just like him innovating the rap game. “I have to keep working hard and creating a fan base so right now I keep trying to push the bar.”

Students felt inspired and confident by the end of the celebration. All thanks to the “Man of the Year.”
