Common starts his morning with Hot 97’s crew at Ebro in the Morning. Spending just under a half-and-hour with Ebro, Laura Stylez and Rosenberg, the Oscar winner discussed his emotional win and performance as well as Selma not winning Best Picture.

“I was definitely surprised. We wanted this to be our greatest performance of the song and we felt the spirit of what we was doing we were grateful to represent Selma doing “Glory” but we never knew people would be crying,” he said.

With a desire to do Broadway, Common is still looking for new ways to do music including possibly putting a play together that goes along with a new project. “We might put it up as a play. I look for different ways to do music,” he explained. “I want to do Broadway and theater just because as an actor it’s something that takes you to another level.”
