Chance The Rapper and Donnie Trumpet recently made their way to Power 105’s The Breakfast Club. The two discuss their beginnings in music, insight into The Social Experiment collective, the upcoming project “Surf”, performing at Lollapalooza and more.

Chance takes us back to the beginning of his rap career, explaining how he got suspended for 10 days and ended up recording music in the library and putting out a mixtape because of it. He goes on to discuss how he is now on good terms with Troy Ave, classism and his father, who works in the government.

Charlamagne asks Chance about his relationship and collaboration with Madonna, and he responds, “I actually met Madonna at Frank Ocean’s show, she came through, and I only knew Frank through Donnie. We met real quick, and then we didn’t talk for awhile. We were at some festival I got a call from Jay-Z, and he was like ‘Yo, Madonna asked for me to get on this record, and I think it would be better if someone who was a new person would get on it.”

Chance gained a huge buzz and momentum with the release of his second mixtape “Acid Rap” in 2013, and since then he has recently dropped tracks like ‘Lady Friend‘ and ‘Sunday Candy‘ to help promote his new group The Social Experiment.
