A$AP Yams’ Cause Of Death Remains Unknown

The hip-hop world continues to grieve the loss of A$AP Yams. In the midst of the announcement of his passing, speculation and rumors to the manner in how he passed away arose. An NYPD spokesperson recently confirmed to The Fader that details in the manner of cause of death remain unknown.

In the 911 complaint report, filed in Brooklyn’s 90th Precinct, Yams was found unresponsive by his roommate Sunday morning (Jan. 18). According to the NYPD, he was then transported to Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Julie Bolcer, spokesperson for the public affairs department of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York City, said that after an initial examination on his dead body the cause of death remains unknown.

“Following the examination, the cause and manner of death are pending further studies,” she stated.

A$AP Ant recently spoke with VLAD TV to dispel rumors that Yams death was due to drugs. “People keep talking about he overdosed off Xanax or whatever and lean. No. That’s not what happened.” He explained. “It ain’t no overdose.”

The day after A$AP Yams death, Joey Fatts – another one of his close friends – took to Twitter to further quiet the rumors. “My brother had severe sleep apnea. And was killing you fuck boys daily,” he tweeted. “My brother ain’t die from no overdose.”

These tweets have since been deleted from his account. You may not already know but sleep apnea is one of the most common sleep disorders in America, with more than 22 million people suffering from it.
