Fabolous dropped a grand body of work fit for Instagram captions, playlists for all festivities and more. With the release of his The Young OG Project streaming on iTunes and moving over 70,000 copies in its first week, the Brooklyn rapper sat down with Fuse to break down his album from getting samples cleared to working with Chris Brown.

“It’s crazy man. The whole sample game – I just like to create so I usually don’t get in the process – and even Jay Z asked me one time why don’t you do the Soul Tape 3 and put it on iTunes as a project,” he explained. “Just that whole process of cleaning samples. I understand it’s somebody else’s work and you have to get permission and all that but it holds back the work.”

Citing J. Cole’s last track on his 2014 Forest Hills Drive as the appropriate description to how artists feel, Fab still wishes the project could be simpler since they are in a sense paying homage to another artist’s great work.
