There’s been a lot of back-and-fourth in regards to race relations in hip-hop. J. Cole devoted a bar or two on “Fire Squad” off his recent LP, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Iggy Azalea has been on the front lines of every Twitter hip-hop lesson courtesy of Azealia Banks and Q-Tip; but seemingly flying under the radar and away from controversy is Seattle-bred rapper Macklemore. Seemingly just in time before the year draws a close, the “Thrift Shop” rapper stopped by Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning show for an in-depth discussion.

All topics were fair game as he weighed on the deaths of Eric Garner and Mike Brown, police brutality, racism, the role of white artists in hip-hop culture, the current Azealia vs. Iggy beef and even YG’s My Krazy Life not being nominated at the upcoming GRAMMY’s. Listen to the interview above.
