Two NYPD police officers were fatally shot in Brooklyn earlier today, according to reports from New York Daily News.

The two officers were reportedly “ambushed” from behind while sitting int her squad car before being fired upon by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, a reported Baltimore gang member, who then shot himself after running around the corner to a nearby subway station.

An instagram account thought to be Brinsley’s shows posts regarding the premeditated attack on two police officers as a form of “retribution” for the killings of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.

“I’m Putting Wings On Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours…Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” said Brinsley in the caption of one of the posts.

This unfortunate incident comes only a day after tensions between Eric Garner supporters  supporters of the NYPD rose to an even higher point during a protest yesterday.

The two opposing sides met with much controversy as the protest went on. NYPD supporters were seen sporting “I Can Breathe” t-shirts and chanting “N-Y-P-D! Thank you for protecting me.”
