As far as relationships go, Nicki Minaj is a tough but very relatable place. With The Pinkprint in stores and streaming everywhere, the Barb has faced interviews looking to dig a little deeper on the meaning of each emotional track. Holding it together quite well, during her stop on The Angie Martinez show last night (Dec. 17) the rapstress was overcome with emotions and took a step away from the air for a moment.

“It’s just that I don’t think people realize it’s not just a relationship or a breakup that was a humongous part of my life,” she explains. “I know because the world we live in, relationships are not sacred anymore. They’re not looked at as important anymore. They’re looked at as so disposable because everybody’s on Instagram dissing each other and trying to hurt each other. It’s like we don’t even value relationships anymore.”

In the midst of putting out her album, the Queens MC and longtime boyfriend Safari “Scaff Beezy” Samuels parted ways. Despite their split, the Barb refuses to trash or joke him while she’s hurting and forced to discuss their relationship in public.
