The 14 year delay has finally ended. Politically charged and certainly making a landfall at the best possible time amidst the general societal unrest, D’Angelo and his band The Vanguard release the 12 track LP Black Messiah.

“Not every song on this album is politically charged (though many are), but calling this album Black Messiah creates a landscape where those songs can live to the fullest,” he explains on the theme of the album during its debut at the Red Bull Academy. “Black Messiah is not one man. It’s a feeling that, collectively, we are all that leader.”
