It’s official, Katy Perry has beat out both Rihanna and Coldplay to join the elite list of artists to play the halftime show at the Super Bowl. Before reports rang in of the confirmation, the singer appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay where she revealed her thoughts on the National Football Leagues’ possible payment request from artists.

“I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl,” she said.

Whether she was charged a fee, the 29-year-old appears to be excited for the upcoming performance. After Bob Costas made the announcement during the Dallas Cowboy and New York Giants matchup, she tweeted: “My band is in the other room screaming at the TV (and each other) over this Cowboys-Giants game. Can’t wait for February 1st…”

Get excited for Super Bowl XLIX taking place Feb. 1st at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona with Pepsi’s “There Since The First” commercial below.
