Jay Z and Kanye West have run into a bit of a situation with the law over an alleged stolen song, “Made In America” off of Watch The Throne to be exact.

According to TMZ, rapper Joel Mac claims that he was outside the Mercer Hotel in SoHo a few years back, around the time when Jay and Kanye were recording Watch The Throne, and was selling demo CDs to people nearby. Mike Dean, famous producer for Jay Z and Kanye, allegedly bought a demo CD and stole the song “Made In America”, which found its way on Watch The Throne.

Apparently, Jay, Ye and Frank Ocean had rented a bunch of rooms in the hotel and actually recorded part of the album there, so it’s hard to say there’s no way Joel Mac is telling the truth. With that being said, Jay Z and Kanye are legends, so to think they stole a song from a random peddler is a bit far-fetched.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens to find out the truth. Until then, listen to both Joel Mac and Jay and Ye’s versions of “Made In America” on the following page.

smfh, that’s hardly “stolen.” That’s more inspiration than anything. He wants credit for that minor contribution of singing “made in america” which has a worse melody than the WTT version? Gtfo. It’s like Juicy J hearing someone say “bands’ll make her dance” and making a completely new song out of it. Should they sue too?
