According to reports from the Associated Press, Too $hort, whose legal name is Todd Anthony Shaw, was stopped by security at the Bob Hope International Airport in Southern California this past Wednesday when it was found that he was carrying a loaded handgun in his carry-on bag.

$hort then allegedly left the scene, leaving his belongings behind with the Transportation Security Administration, and returned the next day with his attorney. He was then cited with misdemeanor of a handgun in a public place.

Too $hort is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 3.

Update: Too $hort called into TMZ to give his side of the story. Apparently he packed the wrong bag and noticed that TSA employees were becoming suspicious which gave him enough reason to leave in an attempt avoid more legal woes. $hort then called his lawyer and took his car from airport valet.

According too the Oakland rapper if he wouldn’t have left the scene and claimed the bag they would’ve just written him a ticket and let his board his plane. I can’t completely blame him for not thinking of that as a possible outcome at the time.
