2014 marks the 20-year anniversary of one of the greatest albums hip-hop has ever seen — Nas’ debut Illmatic. Reflecting on the album that put Nasir Jones on the map, the NY legend and Tribeca Film come together for a new documentary Time Is Illmatic and today we’ve received the official trailer. Reminiscing on the recording process and going back to his childhood home in Queensbridge, Time Is Illmatic aims to show us how Nas went from a young street poet to a hip-hop legend. The full documentary will also include interviews from the producers of the album — Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Professor, Q-Tip and L.E.S. — as well as Nas’ peers from back in the day Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys.

The Time Is Illmatic documentary will be available in select theaters on October 1st and will also be available on nationwide VOD and iTunes platforms starting on October 3rd. Until then, click the following page to see the exciting trailer for Time Is Illmatic.
