The NFL Regular Season has yet to get underway but we have an idea of who we may see during the halftime of the Super Bowl. The Wall Street Journal reports that the NFL has picked Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay for the finalists for this year’s music break of football’s championship.

What’s interesting with this Super Bowl performance selection is the league is requesting for the artist who is chosen to either provide a contribution to the league of their post tour earnings or a financial offering to get the spot, essentially paying for the performance. This new request was ran by one of the perspective artist, which it did not receive a great response.

The idea of paying for the spot comes after the success of past performers and super stars like Beyonce and Bruno Mars who experienced raises in sales on their recently announced tours and more.
