Blacc Hollywood

Wiz Khalifa released his 3rd studio album Blacc Hollywood today and his obvious reign of supremacy continues. The Taylor Gang general has a knack for inventing and influencing different styles in hip-hop and while some might feel like he’s changed since we heard Kush & OJ, one thing’s for sure – his ability to make hits hasn’t.

Linking up with some of today’s hottest acts, Wiz grabbed features from Ty Dolla $ign, Nicki Minaj, Curren$y, Chevy Woods, Juicy J, Project Pat, Jeezy, Rick Ross, ScHoolboy Q, Nas, Ghost Loft and the OG Snoop Dogg, while the production was handled by DJ Mustard, Jim Jonsin, Metro Boomin, Young Chop and many others. Based on those names alone, it’s clear that Wiz has a diverse-sounding album on his hands and the words “cohesiveness,” “interesting” and “happy” are just three of many that come to mind after the first spin.

Wiz shows us his R&B side, his “trap” persona and even some new flows we haven’t heard from the Pittsburgh native. But most importantly, Khalifa stuck to his roots of making feel-good music and quite frankly, society needs that right now. While it’s damn near impossible to pick the 5 best tracks, we continue today with our First Listen series where we do just that. See what we came up with on the following pages.
